This guide will provide a suggested 1 day itinerary of Jaipur and is designed for visitors who only have a very short amount of time to discover the city. The tour will also indicate what is achievable in a single day of sightseeing.

The Jaipur 1 day itinerary visits only the major tourist sights of the city .One day is simply not enough time to fully discover Jaipur and a stay of 2-3 days is recommended.

The morning is spent exploring the historic centre of Jaipur, which is often referred to as thePink City. Jaipur is a chaotic mix of sights, sounds and smells. All of this can be very draining for visitors new to India but thankfully all of the main tourist sights are close together. Highlights of the morning include:

  • The magnificent city palace (around 2 hours)
  • The Jantar Mantar observation instrument (30 minutes)
  • The Hawa Mahal (20minutes)
  • The pink city gates and central Jaipur (30min – 1 hour)

The Amer Fort is one of the most import fortifications in Rajasthan and combines impenetrable defenses with intricate marble detail. The fort is 7km north of Jaipur and an auto rickshaw or taxi is required for the journey.

The route passes the beautiful water palace, set in the centre of Lake Mansagar and is one of the most photographed monuments in Jaipur. Highlights of the afternoon include:

  • A ride on an elephant, the most luxurious method to enter the Amer fort (20minutes)
  • Exploring the Amer fort (1.5-2hours)
  • Photographing the Jal Mahal in Lake Man Sagar. (30 minutes)
  • Short hike up to the sun temple and watching the sunset from the vantage point. (45-60min)
  • Being robbed of food by the monkeys of the temple (1min!)

If you visit India you must do this Desert Tours. The ride in the 4 wheel drives is exciting, the dinner was great. We all sat round on rugs on the ground and ate and watched kalbelia dancing. Great value for money and saw an amazing sunset in the desert. Wonderful experience and a must do if you visit India.
